Continuity With Your Estate Agent Matters

Estate Agent

When somebody comes to value your home, you may spend a considerable amount of time explaining the property, your plans and what you are hoping to achieve.

Then you instruct the agency and never see that person again.

I do not think that is ideal.

In larger agencies, different people may deal with the valuation, viewings, negotiation and progression of the sale.

That can mean information getting passed from one person to another throughout the process.

Personally, I like the idea of one person remaining closely involved.

The agent who values your property already understands why you are selling.

They know how the asking price was agreed.

They have discussed the marketing plan with you and heard what makes the home special.

If that same person is also involved in viewings and negotiation, there is continuity.

You also know who to call when you want an update.

That is one of the attractions of working with a smaller local agency or a bespoke self-employed estate agent.

The relationship can be much more direct.

Whoever you choose, ask the question before signing the agreement:

Who will actually handle my property once I instruct you?

It is useful to know whether you are choosing an individual or simply choosing a company name.
